Your First Gravel Ride on an Adventure Bike

The fun starts where the tarmac ends. Getting your first adventure bike and want to hit the gravel? This video is for you. Riding dirt and gravel is a completely different skill from riding tarmac — and most beginners get it wrong from day one. In this video I'll walk you through everything you need for your first gravel ride: how to set up your bike properly, the right body positions for sitting and standing, and a set of drills you can do anywhere that will build real confidence fast. What we cover: Bike setup — handlebars, levers, pegs and why it matters Sitting position — weight forward, bent arms, loose hands Standing position — how to disconnect from the bike and let it move The 3 biggest beginner mistakes (and how to fix them) Turning technique — lean the bike, keep the body up Braking in corners and tyre recommendations The best part? Gravel technique works on tarmac too. Learn this and you'll ride better everywhere. Start slow. Stay loose. The rest comes with miles. 💬 Let me know in the comments what you want me to cover next! ⏱️ Timestamps 0:00 – The fun starts where the tarmac ends 01:02 – Bike setup 05:28 – Sitting position 10:12 – Standing position 14:46 – The 3 beginner mistakes 17:18 – Turning technique 21:23 – Braking in corners & tyre tips
